Home is where the art is

There are two types of Kiwis in this world; the flightless variety that likes to snuffle about in the undergrowth at the dead of the night, and those of us who have wings and will fly! Like the stereotypical Kiwi with a bad case of wanderlust, I have spread my wings and flown all over the world. During this time, I have witnessed the most amazing architecture and enjoyed learning more about art history and the culture that seeps from the Romantic culture of Europe, in particular Paris where I was given the opportunity to flex my artistic muscles amongst some of the most awe-inspiring creations of architecture and art in
the world.

Thanks to my previous experience as one of the head graphic designers at the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants Marketing team, where I had the responsibility of designing NZICA’s website from scratch, I was quickly offered a role with one of London’s largest media agencies (Starcom MediaVest). There I was given the chance to learn from some of the UK’s most talented designers and hone my existing skills as an artist with a creative and proactive approach to design.

During this time, I worked long hours producing 200 page pitch presentations, hard cover books and building wraps as well as designing websites and brochures. What I loved about this role was that there was plenty of opportunity for me to let my creativity run free.

I believe the experience I have gained in Europe has matured me personally and my artwork has improved immensely thanks to the bright and colourful cultures that I have experienced and the amazing people I have worked with. I have learnt a huge amount during my travels throughout Europe but my goal was to ultimately settle in the Southern Hemisphere to start my next journey. So here I am in Melbourne now working for one of Australia's leading franchise Noodle Box as their sole in-house graphic designer where I have been able to sink my teeth into taking ownership of this exciting brand.

Alongside my existing artistic skills, I am also a creative thinker with the ability to think outside of the square and solve any problems that might arise. Although I am a proactive employee with the ability to work well un-managed, I also love to work in a like-minded team. It gives me a lot of pleasure to deliver products that stand out from the crowd and see that smile on my clients face when the finished product has turned out better than they could have expected.
